Today Already third day of The High Plains Book festival Last Friday citizen and guest of  Billings had busy and wonderful day. They had possibikity to meet Paul Wylie and started to know better about his new book Blood on the Marias: the Baker Massacre. While other scholars have written about the Baker Massacre in related contexts, Blood on the Marias gives this infamous event the definitive treatment it deserves. Baker’s inept command lit the spark of violence, but decades of tension between Piegans and whites set the stage for a brutal and too-often- forgotten incident. Unfortunatly meeting with Sumio Harada was cancelled, but at 7pm Debra Magpie Earling was the keynote speakerat the Billings Public Library and her reading was the beautiful end of the everning. All the listeners were impressed and a little scared. But it was a cozy fright. the mpression was reinforsed by a strong wind outside the window... This Morning Members of the children's staff had a amazing time meeting award- winning authors Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen today during the Montana State Reading Conference. The authors shared their love of reading and how they work together to develop their books. Boy do we love our jobs!
